The Lowdown: Comprehensive case management for lesbians with AIDS.

The first thing that LAP wants you to know is that lesbians do get AIDS. The second thing they want you to know is that LAP is the place for all your support, referral, and educational needs should you find yourself HIV+. A project of Gay Men's Health Crisis, the Lesbian AIDS Project serves as a coordination point for all their clients' needs and as a clearing-house for educational material on lesbians and HIV.

The Lowdown: Friendly lesbian-only health care.

How many times have you gone to a doctor and been asked questions on your sexual history - and it was assumed that history was heterosexual?
"Are you sexually active?"
"Yes."
"Do you use contraception?"
"No."
"You don't use contraception and you're sexually active? That's dangerous."
"No, it's not."
"Huh?"
This conversation will never take place at CHP, where you can get basic GYN care and STD counseling in a completely lesbian environment. No one will judge you. They will treat you with respect and care, as you should do yourself by seeking regular medical treatment.
